Chief threatens to shift into minister’s office if his palace in not renovated

Senior Chief Mununga of the Lunda speaking people in the new Mununga District has urged government  to rehabilitate his Palace before the  onset of  the rains.

The Senior Chief says the  current Palace was  recently vandalised following the violent succession wrangles that characterised his ascension to the throne.

He disclosed this when Community Development, Mother and Child Health Minister  Joseph Katema and Luapula Province Minister Brigadier General Benson Kapaya paid a courtesy call on him  at his Palace , yesterday.

He  threatened to shift into the provincial minister’s office if nothing is done before the onset of  the rains..

He appealed to government to come to his aid even with just window panes and patching up the damaged parts of the old Palace as his situation was becoming desperate.

The Senior Chief  has  also  called for  more local courts in his chiefdom as there was a growing need in the administration of justice for his subjects.

He added that he needed about 15 health Posts in his chiefdom from the 650 that have been earmarked for construction , countrywide.

He explained that this was because his chiefdom covers a wide radius covering two districts of Chienge and Nchelenge which included Kilwa island which had a sum population.

He also thanked  government  for  declaring his area as a district as his Chiefdom  embraced parts of two districts  saying the move will  see the area to be much more developed unlike in the past where developmental funds were by  Nchelenge and Chienge districts, respectively.

He said he was also worried that the district Hospital which was earlier earmarked for his chiefdom during President Mwanawasa’s administration was taken to Chienge District.
