South African High Commissioner to Zambia, Moses Chikane has appealed to Zambian police in the country to uphold the constitution and respect the rights of citizens during the September 20 polls.
Speaking to 5fm, Chikane said Zambians are what they are today because of their constitution and they should abide by it all times.
He noted that police owe citizens a service and must ensure they are protected without fear or favor.
Chikane advised police to be exemplary in their conduct as they handle cases during the elections and avoid unnecessary tension.
He further urged voters to ensure they are united during the polls so that peace and tranquility can continue to be the order of the day in Zambia.
