Pupils at Chilubi Secondary School have rioted smashing glass panes for teachers’ houses in a case involving exam malpractices.
The riot was sparked after a female grade 12 pupil was apprehended by police officers after she was caught with exam leakages in the ongoing mock exams.
However, the incident angered other pupils who started pressing for the release of their colleague.
The pupils then ran amok and stoned their teachers’ houses breaking glass panes in the process.
Among the houses destroyed was that of the head teacher and the district education standards officers (ESO) among others.
When reached for comment, Chilubi ESO Green Chansa said the pupils at the learning institution hated him and accused him of being strict especially during exams.
He appealed to the relevant authorities to quickly intervene in the matter, saying his life and family are at risk.
The pupils also demanded that Mr. Chansa be removed from Chilubi before this year’s final exams.
Police in the district are still holding the female pupil to help with investigations on the source of the mathematics paper she was found with.
