China to send junior official to Zambia independence celebrations

Like most countries, China will send a low -ranking official to the overblown Jubilee celebrations in Zambia.

Some countries such as Malawi will send former presidents instead of serving leaders; this shows how Zambia has lost standing on the international scene.

Chinese President Xi Jinping will send an envoy to attend the celebrations, a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said.

Qiangba Puncog, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, China’s legislature, is set to attend the event, spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a regular press conference Tuesday in Beijing.

The Chinese official coming to Zambia is equivalent to a deputy chairman of the public accounts committee in parliament.
