Chingola electoral officer takes ballot papers to her bedroom; fired

Chingola District Electoral officer George Mulenga has dismissed and revoked the appointment of Feggie Lilefwe as presiding officer for Chilemba Market Polling Statio in Chingola for sleeping with election materials at her house.

Mr Mulenga has told reporters that Ms Lilefwe did not follow laid down procedures by the ECZ which stop her from going with election materials to her house.

He narrated that Ms Lilefwe upon receiving the materials at the civic centre Monday evening, she was told to go and spend a night at the polling station in the company of two police officers.

On her way to the polling station, she decided to go to her house, which is about 800 meters from the polling station with election materials.

She later on booked a taxi which took her home, but the driver reported her to PF Nchanga candidate Wilbur Simuusa who in turn called Mr Mulenga.

The two went to the woman’s house and found the materials, and she was taken to the police station.

The appointment of the two police officers was also revoked.

Meanwhile, one local government election has been postponed in Buntungwa Ward in Nchanga constituency after a mistake was noticed on the ballot paper.
