Workers disclosed to the Zambian Watchdog that Mubende who is a PF supporter asked all the workers to submit their documents to him latest Saturday and that they will be returned on Monday, a day before voting. Mubende claimed the directive came from head office so as to ascertain who is eligible for holiday as Tuesday has been declared a public holiday, though workers feel that there are ulterior motives behind the exercise.
The workers have called on police to intervene and help them retrieve their documents for fear that they will be used to manipulate their voting rights as ‘ghost voters’ may be manufactured using their cards to vote for PF candidate Edgar Lungu in the Tuesday election.
One of the methods PF are using to rig this election is ‘double voting’, this is where a candidate votes from his original designated polling station and later a ghost voter votes using a voter certificate in another area under the disguise of being an agent working in an area away from his polling station.
