National Restoration Party (NAREP) President Elias Chipimo says the Zambia Congress of Trade Union (ZCTU) is justified to call for mass demonstrations over the wage freeze imposed by government on the public service.
Chipimo says that the unions will also be justified to call on their members to strike if government does not listen to their demands.
He said it is the right of workers to go on strike if their reasonable demands they have put forward to government are not met.
Chipimo has re-emphasised the importance of government being humble by listening to the workers and not having a predetermined point of view.
The NAREP President said the call for sacrifice must apply to government leaders themselves.
Chipimo said leaders cannot be asking others to be patriotic when the leaders who should lead by example are not being patriotic themselves.
He added that NAREP fully supports any action that will bring to the attention the responsibilities that government is suppose to undertake on behalf of the Zambian people.
