Chipolopolo beats Angola in CHAN warm up in Johannesburg

Cletus Chama and Mwila Phiri scored either side of a Duarte Nicolau goal to lead Zambia to a 2-1 win over Angola’s Palancas Negras as both sides warmed up for CHAN finals which get underway in Kigali on January 16.
George Lwandamina fielded two different teams in each half as he assessed the preparedness of his 23-man assemblage.
With the solid performance from both sides, Lwandamina will be left with the luxurious headache of who to start when Zambia opens her campaign against Zimbabwe on 19 January.
Skipper Chris Katongo, Isaac Chansa, Mwila Phiri and Stephen Kabamba all accounted well for their positions while the rest of the squad members strongly staked their cases for starting berths.
The backline anchored around Buchizya Mfune in the first half and Donashano Malama in the second half was as solid and reassuring as were goalkeeper Zambia will play Mamelodi Sun downs’ junior team in a training game on Tuesday.
Zambia will on Tuesday play Mamelodi Sun downs’ junior team as it shapes up for the CHAN tournament.
The match will be Chipolopolo’s last of two practice games during their current four-day training camp in South Africa en-route to the 2016 African Nations Championship (Chan) in Rwanda.
Chipolopolo arrived in Johannesburg on Friday from Zambia where they had held a three-week residential training camp in Lusaka.
Chipolopolo are due to fly out to Kigali on Wednesday ahead of the opening ceremony and tournament kick-off on January 16.
