The Zambia national soccer team has broken the jinx of losing away in Sudan winning 1-0 in the first leg of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier played in Sudan on Wednesday evening.
Zambia scored the all important goal through Winston Kalengo in the 27th minute and managed to hold on to the lead up to the last whistle.
The march was played on a dusty and bumpy pitch at Karima stadium. Midfielder Nathan Sinkala was yellow carded in the 65th minute.
Zambia plays Sudan in the second leg at Levy Mwanawasa stadium on Sunday 15th November and only needs a draw to proceed to the final stage which will see five teams qualify to the world cup finals.
