According to bolazambia.com, the 23 year-old’s wedding was shunned by Football Association of Zambia officials and national team players, at least during the church service.
His friends in the national team were unable to make it as they prepare for a crucial fixture. He will miss next week’s Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier due to injury.
Sunzu made his way to the church at 11:15 hours in a status symbol American made Chrysler ALH 5202 clad in a slick black tuxedo, spiced with a bow tie and white shirt – away from the traditional shirt number 13 jersey he don at the national team – with his wife tagging along in another Chrysler registration number ALG 9059.
A jovial looking Sunzu took his place at the front row amidst curious glances from the attendees.
The groom to be was all jolly as he waited for the bride who was ushered moments later as the house came down with ululation.
In the audience was his brother Felix Jr who has over the years flirted with national duty and former Konkola Blades goalkeeper Sunzu senior.
There was a nervy moment when convener Bishop Mwenda had to ask the rituals to be done with bride and groom seated instead of the traditional kneeling as Sunzu was nursing a knee injury.
“At this stage I will ask the groom and bride to go through this while seated because I am aware Stoppilla is still healing,” he said.
