Chipolopolo fails to beat Kenya in formality Afcon qualifier

The Zambia national soccer team has drawn 1-1 against Kenya in the 2017 African Cup of nations closing qualifying match played on Sunday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Both Zambia and Kenya were already out of contention as Guinea Bissau already qualified with an assailable 10 points.
Kenya was the first to hit the back of the net through Ayub Timbe Masika who taped the ball over the Zambian goal keeper in the 63 rd minute.
The Zambians pushed for an equaliser and finally got it through Captain Rainford Kalaba who connected from a pass y Felix Katongo in the 86th minute.
Zambia last failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations tournament in 2004 and will be watching next year’s Afcon from the ‘terraces.’
Zambia’s failure to qualify was mainly due to its poor home record as they drew all their three home games and recorded one loss, one draw and one win in their away fixtures.
Guinea Bissau qualified from group E with 10 points. Congo Brazzaville had 9 points while Zambia managed 7 points with bottom placed Kenya getting 5 points.
