Chipolopolo ‘out’ of 2017 Afcon race

The Zambia national football team is ‘out’ of the race for qualification to the 2017 African Cup of Nations after losing 3-2 away to Guinea Bissau on Saturday evening.
Zambia is now hoping to qualify as best second placed team but this will depend on results from other groups.
Chipolopolo were down on two occasions but managed to equalise through Collins Mbesuma and Christopher Katongo only to concede in the 7th minute of added time after a defensive error by Boyd Mkandawire.
Guinea Bissau has now shot to 10 points while Zambia remains in third position on 6 points with one more game in hand for both teams.
Congo Brazzaville are also on 6 points but are in second position thanks to a superior goal aggregate and have a chance to get 3 points and improve their chance of qualifying as best second placed when they play bottom placed Kenya on Sunday. Kenya only has 1 point and is only playing to fulfil the fixtures.
Zambia last missed the Africa Cup of Nations when they failed to qualify for the 2004 edition of the Afcon.
