Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya has walked to freedom after the Lusaka magistrate court acquitted him of all the four charges of being in possession of property suspected to be oversaw of crime.
When the matter came up before Magistrate Lameck Mwale for continuation of trial, the prosecution team requested to address the court in chambers.
When the matter resumed, lead counsel for the prosecution Clifford Moonga told the court that the acting Director General of the Anti- Corruption Rosemary Kuzwayo was unwell to attend court to explain the position by the ACC on Chipampe Manda, an investigations officer allegedly suspended from the commission after testifying in favour of Chilufya.
The prosecution also informed the court that it will not call any other witnesses in the matter but rely on evidence given so before the court.
On its part, the defence asked the court to acquit the accused Chilufya if the prosecution had no further evidence.
In view of the position taken by the state and considering the evidence before court, Magistrate Mwale acquitted the accused on all four counts.
