Information reaching the Watchdog indicate that paramount Chief Chitimukulu is deeply saddened by the harassment, arrest and the eventual decision by the PF government to deny UPND vice-president Geoffrey Mwamba bail.
But GBM has told his supporters that ‘don’t worry about me, I will be fine’ and has since bought fellow detainees Nshima with T-bone.
The Chitmukulu, who himself was a year ago a victim of outgoing president Edgar Lungu’ s brutality is said to be planning to visit GBM in jail.
When Lungu was Home Affairs minister, he blocked the Chitimukulu from taking up his rightful throne following the death of the other Chitimukulu. Lungu mobilised police officers to surround the Bemba palace forcing the Chitimukulu to stay in a tent for months on end. This forced GBM who was the defence minister to resign from his well paying job saying ‘blood is thicker than water”.
Police in Lusaka has denied GBM Bond on directive from president Edgar Lungu.
The arresting officers ran away from lawyers because they had no proper excuse to give the lawyers for their refusal to grant GBM police bond.
GBM has since bought nshima with T-born for all 50 in-mates in the central police cells.
Sources from statehouse have revealed that the idea is to make GBM spend nights in jail before appearing in court.
The source further advised that Mwamba and those taking food to him must not allow anyone including cops to handle his food without their presence as there is a more bigger plot than these mere arrests.
GBM whose father reigned as Chief Munkonge is a direct descendant of the Bemba Royal family and under normal circumstances must not be made to sleep in police cells on a bailable offence. This has happened before even to chief Mpezeni when he was facing a defilement case.
More details to be availed, meanwhile President Lungu is said to be planning an impromptu trip out of Lusaka to avoid meeting the Mwinelubemba’s team. This is according to information availed to the Zambian Watchdog by State house sources.
