Men armed with pistols and iron bars have staged a robbery at Choma Breweries stealing about K217 million
cash after blowing up a safe box with explosives.
The thieves are said to have tied up a security guard before stealing the money.
Choma Police Commanding Officer Moffat Zimba confirmed the theft to ZANIS today. Mr Zimba said the aggravated robbery took place in the early hours of yesterday between 02 and 03 hours.
Mr Zimba said the robbers attacked the guard at Choma Breweries, tied him up and gained entrance into the main office where they accessed
the safe containing money.
The robbers who entered the office through a window, blew up the safe with explosives and got away with about K 217 million.
The security guard told police that out of the six, two were armed with pistols while the other four carried iron bars.
Mr Zimba said Police in Choma have launched investigations into the matter while night patrols have also been intensified.
