Church should support govt-Chipungu

Youth, Sports and Child Development Minister Kenneth Chipungu says the church should continue playing its compilimentary role in the development of the nation.

Mr. Chipungu says the church should continue supporting government and government seek to address issues of service delivery, peace and social justice to the nation.

He said the church being an agent of change needs to highlight various developmental programs being undertaken by government in their various areas of jurisdiction.

He said the church has a large audience that it serves through spiritual leadership and guidance making it the best institution to unit people and advice government on some of the critical needs the country is faced with.

The Minister said this in Lusaka last night during the fundraising dinner dance for Kaunda Square Catholic Church to raise funds for the construction of a youth multipurpose hall.

He donated K2 million Cash to the fundraising committee.

Speaking at the same occasion Committee Chairperson Oscar Chirwa thanked the Minister for the donation adding that the funds will go a long way in the construction of the resource centre.

Mr. Chirwa said that government needs to support youth programs in the country to ensure that they grow to uphold the principles and values of good neighborliness.

The multipurpose Hall will have rooms for nurses, youth and lay groups and will also carter for the less privileged in society.
