Citizens Committee ” calls for Sata’s blood “

The Committee of Citizens (CC) has joined sections of society calling for the prosecution of Patriotic Front (PF ) leader Micheal Sata over the K 1.2 Billion scam.
CC Executive Director Gregory Chifire says it is unfair for Mr. Sata not to be prosecuted over the K 1.2 billion saga despite the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) recommending prosecution on the opposition leader.
Mr. Chifire says Mr. Sata should be prosecuted like any other citizen suspected to have embezzled public funds such as former Ministry of Health senior official Henry Kapoko and others who are facing similar allegations.
In a press statement made available to ZANIS in Lusaka, Mr. Chifire said Zambians who are the owners of these resources demand to know the truth on this matter.
He charged that as a Non Governmental Organization he wishes to indicate his intention to pursue the matter by taking it to Court.
Mr. Chifire’s sentiment’s come as a surprise to the public as published in today’s Times of Zambia.
“We will sue Mr. Sata as 1st Respondent, the Attorney General as 2nd Respondent, and the ACC as the 3rd respondent so that justice prevails.
“ We also wish to challenge NGOs and eminent Zambians to take up the matter with the serious attention it deserves,” he said.
The CC Executive Director said Zambians will not sit idle and watch their resources being looted by selfish, greed and heartless individuals who pretend to stand for the poor.
He also challenged the Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) and the Donor Community to state their position on the matter.
According to a daily newspaper the ruling MMD in Lusaka have petitioned Home Affairs minister Lameck Mangani to re-open Mr. Sata’s file in which the ACC acknowledged having investigated him.
This was over Mr. Sata’s alleged for financial mis-conduct involving K 1.2 Billion public funds while he served as Local Government and Housing minister in 1992.
