Civil servants to demonstrate over wage freeze in PF budget

The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) says the union with its affiliates will demonstrate outside Parliament building and force MPs not to approve the 2015 national budget that has imposed another wage freeze.

The bankrupt PF government of Michael Sata and his uncle Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda have imposed a wage freeze in next year’s budget despite the cost of living going way beyond the reach of majority Zambians.

Speaking during a media briefing this morning, ZCTU General Secretary Roy Mwaba said they were ready to demonstrate in the streets and go on countrywide strikes together with other measures if the PF government goes ahead with the wage freeze.

PF has run completely broke after all the money has been diverted to corrupt roads contracts where only a few relatives of the ruling regime are the most beneficiaries.

Mwaba said they were ready to be arrested and even challenged PF leaders to build more police cells because they will not give up.
