Civil Society Organisations have resolved to launch a nation wide programe to pressure government to release the draft constitution to the public. The national programme will be launched at the Anglican Cathederal on Saturday January 4, 2014.

The resolution was reached at an emergency meeting held at Action Aid today. This follows after disclosure by the technical committee drafting the constitution that it has ended its mandate and that government has insisted on printing only ten copies. Foundation for Democratic Process Executive Director  Macdonald Chipenzi confirmed the development in an interview in Lusaka on the last day of 2013.

Mr. Chipenzi said the pressure group launch programme will be the biggest ever seen in the Patriotic Front’s two year reign.

Among the organisations that resolved to mount pressure on government are the three Church mother bodies namely the Zambia Episcopal Conference, the Council of Churches in Zambia and the Evangelical Fellowship in Zambia.
