The decision was arrived at during a full council meeting held over the weekend in a bid to bring sanity to the city.
Kitwe city mayor Chileshe Bweupe said the council will now engage the venders to persuade them to accept the decision which he said was a move to keep the town clean.
Bweupe explained that the decision will also restore order and cleanliness in the city noting that the prevailing situation where vending begins as early as 06 hours in the morning was unhealthy.
The mayor said the reason advanced by the vendors that they were conducting business in town because they wanted to target their customers was not convincing enough to warrant them to start doing business as early as 06 hours to 21 hours daily.
He said street vendors should go back to where they were trading from and come to vend in town around 17 hours and not earlier than that. Mr. Bweupe said the town was looking dirty and pathetic therefore the council will not allow the vendors to conduct their business in that manner.C
