Constitutional Court says Lungu can stand again

Constitutional Court says Lungu can stand again

President Edgar Lungu will stand as Patriotic Front candidate in the 12th August, 2021 general election after the Constitutional Court ruled that he has not held office twice

The court says when President Lungu was first elected in 2015 after the death of Mr Michael Sata, he did not serve a term of office as it was less than three years.

In this matter, Legal Resources Foundation Limited, Dr. S and Chapter One Foundation were alleging that President Edgar Lungu held his office twice with his first term being from 2015 to 2016 and his second term being from 2016 to date hence not eligible to contest this year’s general election.

The petitioners therefore wanted the court to declare his nomination null and void.

Maybe this Concourt Judgment is a blessing in disguise. Concourt’s hands are tied thru State Capture and has decided to handover ECL’s Third Term Steal to the Real Concourt of Public Opinion which will pass its Judgment on August 12 thru the Ballot Box. Its now up to the Voters to deny ECL a Third Term. If Zambians vote emasse it can be done. We stopped Chiluba from his Third Term Bid. We can abort ECL’s Third Term Dream. The writing is on the wall.

Lungu and these Judges must be held accountable immediately after they have lost an election to set a precedence of political criminality in the country

Actually I like this ruling. It’s important for Zambia to reject PF and their presidential candidates at the polls. We need to send a clear message that.crime and corruption don’t pay. The next president must hold PF accountable.

Even to me a layman the concourts rationale and interpretation doesn’t make sense. If Lungu had NOT stood for an election, their logic holds and would made sense. But there was an election which he chose to stand and won surely his tenure started then? The next sitting of parliament needs to fix this anomaly so that the law is not subjected potential manipulation.

The joke is on the CoCourt! Their history and performance very checkered and PFish. No sane person can agree that you could finish a term of a dead person.

So Zambians an opportunity to bring this sorry saga to an end.,,STOP THE THIRD TERM! But beware of ECZ!
