Construction industry also suffers load shedding

The National Council for Construction (NCC) has projected a decline in the growth of the construction industry in the country as a result of the power deficit which has led to increased load shedding.

NCC Executive Director Charles Mushota says it is however, too early to ascertain the extent of the decline in growth.

Mr. Mushota has told Qfm News in an interview that the NCC has noted with regret that most construction projects that are in the initial stages and rely on electricity are being slowed down by the current power outages.

He says to the National Council for Construction on the other hand, the current load shedding is an eye opener on the need to venture into alternative sources of energy.

Mr. Mushota has particularly advised the various players in the construction sector to emulate what Dangote Cement has done to improvise its own power generation source at its cement plant in Masaiti.
