The PF on the copper belt province has urged party members to rally behind Secretary general Edgar Lungu because he is the man who was left with power by deceased President Michael Sata.
Speaking in a walk in interview with the state run ZNBC TV in Kitwe, PF Copper belt Provincial secretary Binwel Mpundu, urged party members to remain vigilant and avoid people that want to cause confusion in the party under the pretence of mourning Sata.
“We have to rally behind party Secretary general Edgar Lungu because he is the one who was chosen by our beloved President Sata. We must be vigilant and guard against some people who want to cause confusion in the party by pretending to be mourning with us,” said Mpundu, in apparent reference to the cartel led by Post newspapers owner Fred M’membe who wants to impose a preferred successor to Sata.
Last week, therewas a near punch up between provincial chairman Stardy Mwale and provincial minister Mwenya Musenge after Mwale accused Musenge of being a Kabimba stooge but the later ordered Mwale out of his office. Mwale is an ex pro kabimba thug who just jumped camp after kabimba’s unceremonious dismissal.
And on Wednesday, PF cadres disrupted a clandestine PF Central committee meeting which was called by the M’membe cartel at Chita Lodge in Lusaka. Lusaka province chairman Geoffrey Chuumbwe who was one of the conveners was only rescued by State house security and ordered to flee the area. Later armed policemen came in and cancelled the meeting.
M’membe and former Secretary general Wynter Kabimba have since formed a parallel secretariat and are micromanaging PF structures without the knowledge of secretary general Edgar Lungu.
