Copperbelt minister Kufuna fails to appear in court, surety jailed

A magistrate on the Copperbelt has jailed a surety in the case where Copperbelt minister John Kufuna is charged with dangerous driving.

Minister Kufuna did not appear in court when the matter came up prompting the magistrate to issue a bench warranty against his surety Abdullah Khosa.

Minister Kufuna claimed through his agents in court that he could not be in court as he was in parliament.

His surety Khosa has already been captured by police and is behind bars.

On 10 October, Copperbelt Minister John Kufuna appealed to government officials in the province to be exemplary in their conduct and ensure that they serve the public well.

He said this when he met provincial heads of Government departments at Lowenthal Theatre in Ndola .
