Council of Churches refuse to participate in changing constitution

The Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) has rejected the request by the PF government to make Submission to a Parliamentary Select Committee that is seeking to alter the constitution.

CCZ Secretary General Fr Emmanuel Chikoya has told the clerk of the National Assembly they making such submissions will amount to supporting the current process to change the constitution.

Fr. Chikoya reminded the clerk of the National Assembly that the church does not support the current attempts to alter the constitution because the proposed changes are against the interests of the majority of Zambians.

Apart from the opposition political parties, legitimate NGOs including the NGOCC have also refused to make submissions to the parliamentary select committee.

In such an environment, the decent thing that an accountable Government needs to do is to call for a fresh mandate. We need early election now.

UPND…… remember 14 Days debacle at the constitution ???? Whenthe constitution and bill of rights were being debated you MPs either went out drinking castle light at the National Assembly bar or were sleeping in the chamber. They only came to realise what had hit them when Edgar had already dribled them. Their learned lawyers could not even interpret 14 days…….Four years down the line Edgar is still the president and will finish this term as President. Namu 2021 bakaminyunya imingalato ..kikikiki!!!!

Regrettably, democracy respects individual’s choice just as the Church Mother Bodies have declined to submit their rejection of changes to the Constitution.Be this as it may looks like the changes will nevertheless be made.

Pf trying to bulldoze around. Pf knows that once the move flops then hope for 2021 is doomed. Pf popularity is shrinking daily. They are equally affected by hunger even though they pretend all is well by perpertual denials.
