Court grants bail to 48 Namwala UPND cadres

The Magistrates court in Namwala has granted bail to the 48 UPND cadres who were put in prison after a fight with the PF cadres who provoked them.

After the fight, and sensing defeat on the PF cadres’ side, government moved in, evacuated them to Namwala secondary school where they have been fed on government cost since 15th August while the UPND cadres were rounded up and thrown into prison.

Earlier, the state objected to the bail application in spite of the framed up charges of arson and riotous behaviour being bailable. They were all granted K5,000 bail each in their own cognisance with two sureties.
