Court grants Shakafuswa bail, police unhappy

The Kaoma Magistrates court has granted K2,000 cash bail to the incarcerated UPND Katuba MP Jonas Shakafuswa who is accused of assault and malicious damage charges, but police command tried in vain to influence the court to deny him bail.

Shakafuswa was accused of having assaulted 6 District commissioners who were in Mangango to rig elections but sensing danger, today police produced different clients and earlier police deputy commissioner Sakala tried to connive with court officials to deny the Katuba MP any bail. Sakala portrayed Shakafuswa as a violent man who will disrupt electoral process but lawyer Cheelo Mwiinga from Mwiimbu and Muleza argued that Shakafuswa was an MP and of fixed aborde.

And the 6 DCs who tried to frame up Shakafuswa have chickened out, the idea made police to panic looking for new complainants. Meanwhile Shakafuswa and the UPND camp have reiterated that they will stop vote rigging by PF thugs because Zambians deserve freedom to choose their leaders. They argue that Zambia was a democracy and if people have opted to kick out PF government out of their incompetence. Shakafuswa will remain in Kaoma till voting finishes tomorrow and winner announced.
