Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Emeldah Chola has disclosed that the establishment of new districts in the region has posed a serious challenge for her office considering that they were not budgeted for in this year’s national budget.
Brigadier General Chola said this in Lusaka during the second quarter Provincial Development Coordinating Committee (PDCC) meeting.
She however said her office was working hard to ensure that the problem of infrastructure and staff in new districts is addressed.
She said a team of officers have since visited the districts to have a pre-budget assessment so that they are included in next year’s budget.
She said the information that was collected will be helpful for preparing for next year’s budget.
Brig. Gen. Chola asked stakeholders to take keen interest in ensuring that the new districts are operational.
The purpose of PDCC meeting is to assess the work of the province so that it can reposition itself in areas of development.
The PDCC also receives and analyses reports from its sub-committees on the progress achieved during the quarter under review.
Brig. Gen. Chola expressed satisfaction on a number of programmes that the province has implemented but stressed that public service workers should continue offering good and quality services to the public
