The Drug Enforcement Commission has arrested a grade 11 pupil of Chifundo Secondary School in Kalingalinga Township in Lusaka for trafficking in cocaine.
DEC public relations manager John Nyawali confirmed that Christine Chibuta, 19, was arrested together with Mary Mulenga, 25 and Esnart Banda 30 all of Kalingalinga .
He said the three were arrested after DEC officers conducted a search at their house where four sachets, one pellet and loose cocaine powder were found.
Nyawali said this brings the total number of teenage girls aged between 14 and 19 arrested for drug trafficking in the last five months to 13.
“The Commission would like to appeal to women particularly girls in secondary schools and higher institutions of learning to avoid getting lured into drug trafficking activities as they may end up destroying their lives,’ said Nyawali
Meanwhile, about four hundred kilograms of cannabis was seized in the last two days seized and 29 people arrested for trafficking in the psychotropic substance.
Among those arrested are three peasant farmers of Mongu in Western province who were found with 27 bags of cannabis weighing 227 kilograms, according to Nyawali
