DEC arrests two soldiers found smoking dagga

The Drug Enforcement Commission has arrested two Zambia Army soldiers who were found smoking dagger in public.

The two who  Corporals have been charged with drug trafficking, according to DEC spokesperson John Nyawali.
Nyawali said in a press statement to the Watchdog that soldiers based at Arakan Barracks in Lusaka were arrested in Ndola on the Copperbelt after they were found with a joint of cannabis weighing 1.6 grams which they were smoking in public.
He said they  are currently detained in Police Custody and will appear in the Ndola Magistrate court soon.
Nyawali warned Zambians who are in the habit of smoking cannabis to stop the habit saying no one is exempted by law to traffic or poses prohibited Psychotropic substances or Narcotic drugs.

And Nyawali disclosed that DEC  in the last five days seized about 57 kilograms of cannabis from 52 people that were arrested in different parts of the country.
Those arrested were from Lusaka, Copperbelt, Central and North Western Provinces. Others were from Eastern and Northern provinces respectively.
