Desperation: PF through ERB reduces fuel prices by 49 Ngwee

The Patriotic Front government has directed the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) to reduce fuel prices as part of Edgar Lungu’s campaign for the January 20th Presidential by-elections.
The Energy Regulation Board has since announced a reduction in fuel pump prices by 49 Ngwee for petrol, 54 Ngwee for diesel and 44 Ngwee for kerosene.
The ERB says the ‘reductions’ will be effective midnight on Monday 8th December 2014.
The PF government had last week announced a reduction in fuel prices by 28 Ngwee and when people complained that the reduction was minimal, Energy Minister Christopher Yaluma blamed the ERB for the minimal reduction and revealed that he had personally directed them (ERB) to reduce fuel prices.
The government appears to have been ‘forced’ to reduce fuel prices after UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema promised to reduce fuel prices if he gets elected as president on 20th January 2015.
The PF campaign team has no message for Zambian voters and have indicated through their candidate Edgar Lungu that they will depend on the ‘vision’ of late president Michael Sata.
