Divorced Nakonde woman arrested for trying to sale baby at K5m

Police in Nakonde in Muchinga Province have arrested a woman of Kaku village who attempted to sell her seven ā€“ months- old baby for 5 million Kwacha.

Muchinga deputy commissioner of Police Chilije Nyirenda said the women, Jester Nanyangwe 20, wanted to sell he baby to a teacher.

Nanyangwe approached Alistoto Sinkala who is the deputy head teacher at Movu Basic School and asked him whether he could buy her child or find her a customer.

Mr. Sinkala told Nanyangwe that he was going to meet her later at a named church around 19:00 hours so that they finish up the deal.

Mr. Nyirenda says the woman later told Sinkala that she was even ready to reduce the price to three million kwacha.

Mr. Sinkala immediately informed the village headman and community police unit who laid an ambush and apprehended her.

Nanyangwe has said that she wanted to sell the baby, because she was divorced two weeks ago and her ex-husband has remarried and is not supporting the baby.
