The ruling PF government has finally admitted the Zambianwatchdog revelations that civil servants, particularly nurses were only awarded a 4 percent salary increment on their basic salary as opposed to the claimed 200 percent.
Dr. Joseph Katema the minister for one of the two ministries of Health today told parliament that nurses were only awarded 4 percent as opposed to 200 percent.
Nurses were now planning for a countrywide strike if the situation where they are getting less than their cleaners is not normalised.
Several opposition members of parliament took the minister to task as to why they never told the truth and whether the PF government would apologise to the nurses and the nation for misleading the people.
Early this year, the Zambia Watchdog revealed that civil servants were only awarded as little as 4 percent.
