Earth tremor hits parts of Zambia

An Earth tremor hit Copperbelt, Luapula and Central provinces on Sunday evening causing panic among residents.

The tremor, which Watchdog contacts in Mansa say was ‘quite severe’, hit the provincial headquarters of Lupaula at 20:27 hours local time and lasted for about 10 seconds. In other parts of the country especially Copperbelt, residents says it lasted longer that 30 seconds.

No damage has been reported so far but frightened residents were forced to rush outside their homes while others were heard screaming.

In Chililabombwe, Watchdog contacts say the tremor was felt at the same time.

The tremor was also felt in Mksushi farming block in central province.

A tremor is a small earthquake.
