ECZ removes the 8000 ghost votes from Lungu’s figure

Now the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has removed 8000 votes from Edgar Lungu’s total votes.

ECZ spokesperson Chris Akufuna has confirmed this latest development . These were fake votes given to Lungu purported to be Lundazi votes.

In a news interview with Muvi TV, Mr Akufuna said , ‘all political parties have been notified’.

“We have even changed the figures on the ECZ Website. This further means that 8000 votes has been subtracted from Mr Lungu’s total votes and his votes have reduced by 8000,’ Akufuna revealed.

But what does this mean exactly?

It means that Lungu has only passed the 50% by less than 5000 votes, and, it means, if the opposition proves that there were other ghost votes added to Lungu’s figures, Lungu’s purported victory can be nullified. In fact, if the opposition can prove that Hakainde Hichilema’s votes were reduced by 5000 votes anywhere, Lungu’s ‘win’ will be invalid.

According to official results published by ECZ, Mr Lungu had passed the 50% by 13 000 only.

There are already questions on the votes given to Lungu in Chingola, Kanyama, Mandevu, Chawama and other parts of the country.
