Edgar Lungu mentioned in plot to conceal poisoning of late Dr Arthur Banda; widow arrested

The widow of Dr. Arthur Banda has been arrested in Lusaka after autopsy results on her late husband came out positive for poisoning.

And police sources have told the Watchdog that acting president Edgar Lungu is at the centre of trying to help Dr Arthur Banda’s widow by concealing the poisoning and therefore possible murder.

Dr Banda is the one who embalmed late president Levy Mwanawasa. He was the proprietor of Chosen Heritage Funeral Home. He died mysteriously in 2011.

But in March 2013, police officers exhumed Dr Banda’ remains, following a report made over the manner in which he died.

According to police sources, prior to the exhuming of the body, Alex Chilufya the then Director for CID at police headquarters was transferred for entertaining the request from Dr. Banda’s sons for an Autopsy.

Mrs. Banda sought the intervention of her neighbor; Home Affairs Minister Edgar Lungu who had Alex Chilufya removed as Director of CID.

Many questions are now been asked and one of those is whether minister Edgar Lungu’s actions amount to concealing a murder by interfering in a suspected murder investigation.

Lungu is the acting president of Zambia.
