Edward Mumbi picked-up by police for refusing to denounce UPND

Former UPND member Edward Mumbi was this afternoon picked-up by PF’s Joint Investigative team from Intercontinental Hotel.

Sources close to Mr. Mumbi said he was recently invited at State House where he was directed to hold a press briefing to denounce and label UPND as a tribal party but he refused.

Mr. Mumbi who has been taken to police headquarters is likely to face trumped-up charges of money laundering.

Mr. Mumbi who is one of the founding members of the ruling PF where he saved as Secretary General, joined the opposition UPND before deciding to resign and took a low profile.

Towards elections last year, Mr. Mumbi denounced the PF and its leader Michael Sata and had a bitter verbal exchange with then PF president during voting day.
