Electricity load shedding to end in 2017, not in 90 days – Yaluma

Energy, Mines and Water Development Minister Chris Yaluma says load shedding which the country has been experiencing for a long time now will come to an end in the year 2017.

Mr Yaluma said government is doing everything possible by increasing generation capacity and upgrading the power network.

He said for a long time now the power network has not been rehabilitated and thus cannot meet the generation capacity of the electricity demand that continues to increase with the growing population thus resulting into load shedding.

He said this when he featured on Cross fire radio blog in collaboration with Zambezi fm Radio Tuesday evening.

He said that with the coming of some power stations such as Itezhi Tezhi, load shedding will be a thing of the past
He has however called on investors to invest in power generation and add to the nation grid to cushion the problem of load shedding.
