Embattled PF Secretary General Davies Chama has now confronted party President Edgar Lungu to intervene in the matter where members are calling for his removal but Lungu is reportedly not concerned about the matter.
A State house source has told the Zambian Watchdog that Chama saw Lungu late in the evening after the cabinet meeting and expressed his disappointment with the President’s failure to comment on the calls by cadres especially from Eastern province calling for his removal.
“Just like you reported that Muchinga province petitioned the President and was followed by Eastern province, Mr. Chama has been very unstable because the President has not condemned these calls so he told him in that private meeting but sad for him because it is the President who wants him out and replaced with KBF (lawyer Kelvin Bwalya Fube), otherwise Chama is just a good guy,” said the source.
And South African Centre for Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) Executive director Boniface Chembe has appealed to President Lungu to intervene in the wrangles so as to prevent a repeat of the intra party wrangles faced by the PF last year during then Secretary General Wynter Kabimba’s reign.
“It is not long ago when we witnessed PF intra party squabbles and we appeal to President Lungu to intervene early in these calls to remove Chama as secretary General,” said Chembe in a statement to the media, in apparent reference to Lungu’s silence over the matter.
