Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Eularia Zulu Syamujaye, on Saturday bed farewell to spinsterhood when she married Lusaka businessman, Nathan Mwale in Chipata.
The Permanent Secretary, who had maintained the name of her late husband Syamukayumbu Syamujaye, tied the knot with Mr Mwale at a wedding ceremony held at Saint Anne’s Catholic Parish.
And speaking during the wedding reception, Eastern Province Minister, Isaac Banda, said government attaches great importance to the institution of marriage.
Mr. Banda said he was aware that stable marriages were a basis for a stable nation which made a good foundation for development.
He urged the new couple to continue being an inspiration to many people, adding that, the step made by Mr. and Mrs. Mwale was commendable and the most serious decision a person can ever make in life.
Mr. Banda said marriage was an institution ordained by God and from the time of Adam and Eve and should thus be respected.
And speaking earlier during the church service, Father Aston Tembo said age should not restrict people from marrying.
He said marriage had no age limit and challenged those who were still in hiding to come out in the open and follow the example of the Permanent Secretary.
Father Tembo commended the couple for ensuring their married was blessed in church, adding that, marriage once blessed could not be dissolved.
“I want to assure you that what God has put together, no man should put asunder,’’ he said.
He also called on the newly wed couple to look after children well from both the man’s and the woman’s families.
