Ex-FODEP chair joins condemnation of Sata’s team of experts

Former Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) President Stanley Mhango has warned that the lack of consensus in the composition of the committee of experts appointed to draft the new constitution is a source of conflict.

Mhanago  noted that lack of consensus in terms of representation was also a contentious matter in the work of the National Constitution Conference (NCC).

Mhango told Muvi TV that the 20-member technical committee appointed by president Sata lacks broad representation of Zambian society.

Meanwhile, Mhango suggested that government should have aimed at addressing the five fundamental articles that led to the 2010 constitutional bill to be thrown out of parliament.

He noted that 80 percent of the bill was endorsed leaving out only the articles on 50 percent plus one, the running mate for a vice President, Economical, Social and cultural rights, an independent electoral commission and the coalition government.
