Expelled PF MPs appeal to Supreme Court

Expelled Patriotic Front MPs have filed a notice of appeal in the Supreme Court to restrain their party from expelling them.
On February 25 2011, the PF expelled 15 members of Parliament following a High Court judgment which threw out an application by the MPs to stop the party from expelling them.
This means the party can not expel the MPs until the Supreme Court decides. And given the slow nature of the courts in Zambia, the MPs will continue masquarading as PF MPs untill parliament is dissolved in readiness for general elections.

The MPs who are represented by lawyer Michael Mundashi filed a notice of appeal and a stay of execution Wednesday.
Affected MPs are  Peter Machungwa (Luapula) and Jacob Chongo (Mwense),Faustina Sinyangwe (Matero), Celestino Chibamba (Shiwang’andu), Elizabeth Chitika (Kawambwa), Besa Chimbaka (Bahati), Ernest Mwansa (Chifunabuli), Joseph Kasongo (Bangweulu), Percy Chanda (Kankoyo), Barnabas Chela (Wusakile), Michael Nyirenda (Kamfinsa), late Benson Bwalya (Chifubu), Lombani Msichili (Kabushi), Joseph Zulu (Bwana Mkubwa), Anson Simama (Kalulushi) and Violet Sampa-Bredt (Chawama).
