Expelled PF MPs lose court case

The Patriotic Front has written to the speaker of the National Assembly asking him to declare 15 parliamentary constituencies vacant.

This follows a decision by a Lusaka High Court to throw out an injunction by some PF MPs who had taken the party to court after being expelled.

The MPs, who were 26 at the beginning three years ago but have since reduced to 15, were expelled from the PF for participating in the National Constitution Conference (NCC).

The long winding case came to a close Monday when Judge Gregory Phiri ruled that the PF was in order to expel the MPs.

Some of the MPs affected are Peter Machungwa (Luapula), Ernest Mwansa (Chifunabuli), Celestino Chibamba (Shiwang’andu), Elizabeth Chitika-Molobeka (Kawambwa), and Faustina Sinyangwe (Matero).
