Over eighteen families in Kasama’s Chitamba village have been left homeless after their houses were demolished yesterday.
The affected families who mobbed a Mano News crew which rushed to the scene today disclosed that armed Police officers stormed the area yesterday around 09:00 hours and ordered the occupants to move out of the houses.
They wondered why the demolition exercise was undertaken without prior notice.
But when contacted for comment, Stephen Phiri who is claiming to be the owner of the controversial plot accused Chitambi village committee of delaying to process the papers for the land.
Mr Phiri who has since threatened to take legal action against the said committee was however quick to clarify that the move to demolish the houses was a court order.
