Farmers reject K75 maize price

Farmers have described as a mockery, the K75 per 50kg bag of maize set up by government because the cost of farming was too high after the PF government raised the prices of fertiliser and seed.

Agriculture minister Given Lubinda announced the prices and said government would not offer anything more than that.

Lubinda further announced the ban on maize imports until September. But the farmers spoken to said that they would rather hold on to their maize and sell it to exporters than selling it to government at a mockery price.
