FAZ-MTN super league kicks off on March 12

The Football Association of Zambia 2016 Super league season will kick off on March 12, with the Charity Shield finals taking place a week earlier on March 5.
Association Spokesman, Nkweto Tembwe has told ‪FAZFOOTBALL‬ recently that the semi finals of the Charity Shield, which signifies the opening of the Zambian league, will be held on February 20.
“We are glad to inform you that the super league will kick off in March on the 12th, while Divisions one, two and three will return to action on April 3, 2016. The women league will kick off on the 7th of May. The Venues for the Charity Shield will be advised in due course,” Tembwe concluded.
The 2016 football action will commence against a background of a new league structure that has seen division one having four zones and the super league increasing to eighteen teams from the previous sixteen.
In view of the restructured league, only two teams (instead of four) were demoted from the Super League last year.
However, starting this year four will be demoted as was the case before. Winners of each of the four zones will be promoted to the super league.
