(FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE)
THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF ZAMBIA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 26 MARCH 2011
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) would like to advise the football fraternity, partners, stakeholders and the entire nation to be cautious of misleading and false statements suggesting that Football House has decided to exclude a request for a vote of no confidence to be among items for deliberation at the next AGM scheduled for the Moba Conference Centre in Kitwe at the end of March.
The propaganda of lies, deceit and the smear campaign being perpetuated by a named FAZ member is deliberately planned but a futile attempt by this individual and a few of his colleagues who are bent on tarnishing the name of the game and FAZ. His attempts will not succeed because they are not founded on truth but based on individual slur, self-interest and desperation which are bringing the name of the game into disrepute.
It is the responsibility of Football House to guide all members including those who may have wished to request for tabling of the no confidence vote in line with the FAZ Constitution, Statutes and guidance of FIFA.
The football family and nation is aware that the FIFA/FAZ meeting last December agreed on this matter and further guidelines outlining its processes and procedures for inclusion and possible debate of the same have been issued and circulated. All members are obliged to adhere to these as provided for in the FAZ Statutes. Any members not conversant with the same are free to seek the assistance of the Association, FAZ Constitution guidance as well as the dictates of FIFA. Misleading impressions by a few members that by virtue of their FAZ membership they can submit anything they want for discussion is false because all matters relating to the AGM must be done in accordance with the Constitution.
It is therefore regrettable that some individuals can sink so low and brazenly to deliberately engage in a campaign founded on total misrepresentation, lies and deceitfulness. FAZ will not tolerate any such acts. Football House will therefore recommend immediate and strong action and sanctions against any such person to the relevant organs of the Association because tolerating this kind of anarchy would tarnish the image of the game and the Association. The same would accordingly be communicated to FIFA for worldwide attention and action.
We take this opportunity to provide once more the statement issued by FIFA following the 20 December 2010 meeting as well as guidance from the world soccer governing body on the modus operandi regarding the matter of the no confidence vote at the forth coming FAZ AGM. Further we include our communication with Amakumbi Stars FC, Pemba United FC and Mazabuka United FC regarding their submission for the AGM and the guidance provided to them by the Football House.
