I write as a concerned miner and member of the Mine Workers Union of Zambia (MUZ) to express my displeasure at the rampant financial mismanagement of MUZ resources and funds. One of the biggest culprits in the plunder is Terry Simbeye, the Treasurer General who is also a well known PF cadre and a failed parliamentary aspirant in Mufulira under pf in the 2011 elections.
I make reference to today’s post newspaper article dated 5th March 2013 on page 10 titled ” Hiked Mwila House rentals threaten over 50 Kitwe SMES. I sympathize with the innocent tenants at David Mwila House for years the MUZ officials have been using such properties to symphon public money. Ever since the building was donated to them by the late President FTJ Chiluba no improvements have been made but money has been collected.
As the photos attached will show MUZ officials are busy building shopping complexes and houses whilst we the miners who toil the soil are neglected. We ask the government to intervene and demand an independent audit of the MUZ finances. Our leaders led by Simbeye are busy touring the country on lavish trips that yield little or no results at the expense of the poor miners.
Photos attached show one of the many properties being built by Mr. Simbeye, Treasurer General of MUZ. The Multi Million Rebased Kwacha Shopping Complex located in Kwacha East Township of Kitwe houses 18 shops.
I pray that you will publish my story and highlight the corruption, tribalism and financial mismanagement going at MUZ.
