Finland police pursue Zeddy Sailet for match fixing

Police in Finland are investigating Zambian soccer legend Zeddy Saileti for match fixing.

Lapin Kansa, a Newspaper in Finland reports that former ROPS player and Captain Zeddy Saileti is a suspect in the match fixing investigation that has rocked Finnish football.

Saileti is of interest to the Police as it is alleged that match fixing involving ROPS players started during the time he was a ROPS player.

The same newspaper reports that police in Finland have finished the investigation involving the other Zambian players who were arrested earlier and charged with various match fixing offences. The nine Zambians all ex-ROPS FC players will appear in court on the June 9, 2011.

The other two Zambian brothers, the Yobes were convicted of match fixing in the same country and ordered to pay back the bribes they received.

Sailetti played for the RoPS  since 1994 spending 16 seasons with the team. He has been team’s best goalscorer in 95, 96, 00, 01, 04, 05, 06 and 08.

Saileti has most caps in Veikkausliiga with RoPS. He is in second place of the all-time scorers with 65 premier league goals in 294 games. While in the Ykkönen, the Finnish second highest tier, with RoPS, he has scored 27 goals in 86 games.

In end of 2007 Saileti signed a new contract with RoPS making him a player-coach for the team.

Later he was named RoPS co-head coach together with Jorma Turpeenniemi. Saileti decided to retire at the end of season 2009. On October 17, 2009 he played his last game againstKuopion Palloseura at the age of 40.

If Saileti was the team’s best scorer in 95, 96, 00, 01, 04, 05, 06 and 08, doesn’t this contradict the accusation that he fixed matches!!!!!!!???

All those years and great accolades why couldn’t he remain humble and coach or maybe even be a club president? Awe Mwe all I shall do is pray, for mr. Sailetti and the other Zambian misfits at ROPs.
