The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has condemned the manner in which United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema was transferred from Lusaka Central Correctional Facility (Chimbokaila) to Mukobeko Maximum Correctional Facility in Kabwe.
And Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) leader Sean Tembo has demanded for reasons why Hichilema was moved to Mukobeko in Kabwe.
FODEP Executive Director Mwenge Chimfwembe has observed that while the Correctional authorities can move people in their custody to any of their facilities, the manner in which Hichilema was moved was wrong because his lawyers and family members were not informed.
Chimfwembe further said the state should be careful in the way they handle Mr Hichilema because there where sensitivities surrounding the matter.
And Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) leader Sean Tembo has demanded for reasons why Hichilema was moved to Mukobeko in Kabwe.
‘The state must show compelling reasons why Hichilema had to be moved to Kabwe making it logistically difficulty for relatives to visit him,’ Tembo stressed.
He has further urged the government to stop making decisions that will trigger and influence the already tense mood in the country.
